How to: AutoArchive Outlook Folders

By:Christine Fettinger

Activate the AutoArchive feature with Microsoft Outlook 2013 in three easy steps. The Outlook mailbox grows as items are created just like papers piling up next to your desk. It’s as simple as discarding that outdated newspaper you have laying on your desk.

You can automatically archive Outlook folders and specify where the archive is stored. Accessing the AutoArchive feature requires two-steps. The first is to turn on AutoArchive, second is to set the properties of the desired folder.

Turning on the AutoArchive feature

  1. Click the File tab, Options, and File Menu

  2. autoarchive1

  3. Within the Outlook Properties dialog box, select Archive this folder using these settings option. Choose the desired timeline to clean out items. We have selected 3 months.
  4. autoarchive2

  5. Select the Move old items to option, Browse will allow you to select the desired location and select OK twice.
  6. autoarchive3
